In all the years we have taken the kids to a baseball, soccer, ice hockey or other sporting event, we have dreaded spending the entire time catering to the kids: interrupting our watching of the game or talking to other adults to get popcorn, cotton candy, peanuts or taking them to use the disgusting public restrooms, re-fills on sodas, and answering what the score is every two minutes (it's a baseball game, it doesn't change for hours at a time!).

Brilliant Invention: Sandboxes
The brilliance of sandboxes is not that they allow creativity and social benefits to children, but rather that they allow parents to enjoy themselves without disruptions.
But this time, our brilliant Karate Instructor hosted a baseball game night for the karate families at the Charleston Riverdogs stadium, with seats being conveniently located next to a huge sandbox area. Ashu played there the entire time and mommy was able to hang out with grown-ups, sit and relax. Seriously, I did not get a single request for a treat! Thank you so much Mrs. Geer, our karate instructor, and whom we love not only for this idea but everyday!
