Ashu went on a school trip to Town Creek Indian Mound, a historic Indian reservation about 60-70 miles from here and on this trip, my daughter purchased a little gadget that she can’t do without. We discovered this when she lost it on a crowd-packed soccer field on her way to her brother’s game. She spent the rest of the game searching for her beloved “Optic One,” a $5 toy she picked up on this trip. But to her credit, Optic One is a pretty cool and versatile invention that acts as a compass, monocular, binocular, signaling mirror, magnifying mirror, and a 2x and 4x magnifier. I finally found one on the internet and purchased it paying a little more plus shipping, and an extra OpticOne as a back-up should we lose this one again! But as they say, the cost is priceless compared to the happiness it provides her. She also had a fabulous trip learning about the Pee Dee culture, walking the archaeological site and burial mound, and finding out about the Indian’s way of life.
