Outer Banks Field Trip

Akshay and about 180 other students went to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for a 3-day field trip. It was his first time away alone on a trip and our house felt way too quiet without him. But he had a great time, bunked with three other classmates and lived life on the wild, or rather wilder, side. I heard they enjoyed staying up late, making their own coffee in the morning, and just loving the time away without family obligations. They left break-of-dawn Thursday morning and returned Saturday evening. The drive was over 10-hours due to the slower pace of a bus, they stopped for lunch on the way there and left after breakfast on the last day. Sites visited include Jockey’s Ridge, the Aquarium, NC’s glorious beaches, and the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Jockey’s Ridge State Park has one of the tallest natural sand dunes in the eastern states. Overall he enjoyed the great food and company, loved staying up late and hanging out. He even states the bus ride was a blast, singing songs and sharing stories on the way there and back. His only complaint was that he had to wear the school required dress code!
