Pool Party

Ashu celebrated her birthday with a pool party bash at our community’s summer kitchen. The party was for Ashu’s friends, their siblings and families. Birthday parties are so much fun when the whole clan gets involved. The party featured an array of appetizers (including somosas, tabolehh, kachoris, mango salsa and chips, mini-sandwiches and more, followed by pizza and birthday cake). The party was scheduled in the evening and the week had me panicked: the rain forecast kept shifting between 10-75% chance of rain all week and all day. The day of the party, the chance of rain when I checked at 10:00 in the morning was 10%; at 11:30, it increased to 30%; by 2:00pm, it was 20%; by 4:00pm, it was 75%, and by 5:00pm, I quit checking. As I had made all this food and planned outside décor, the fluctuation in rain prediction was frustrating. But by 6:00pm, we had a blast of a party and not a drop in site. Guess my little munchkin got the party she deserved!
