Every Song Tells a Story
“Every Song Tells a Story” was the theme for this year’s piano recital. The theme was designed to familiarize each student with their musical piece through story telling and drawing what his or her repertoire means to them. Akshay has been playing for years and partook in another recital and Ashu joined her brother’s talent with her inaugural recital this year. Overlooking the scenic Sullivan’s Island, the recital was held at the Sunrise Presbyterian Church. Akshay’s fast-paced, Arabian style piece was entitled, “Arabesque” by Frederic Burgmuller. And keeping in line with the theme of “every song tells a story,” our Ashu pulled a fast-one on us. She has been rehearsing and preparing to play her piece, “The Trumpet Song” by Jeremiah Clark as a duet with her teacher for weeks, months even. But right before the performance she decided upon getting the limelight all to herself—my brave performed a solo just like that.
