African Lion Safari
African Lion Safari in Canada is a must for all kids! We’ve been to many zoos, including the much-coveted San Diego Wild Animal Park, but never have we experienced anything like this. Using our own vehicle, we were able to drive through a 700-acre area and watch the animals roaming freely in their natural habitat. The friendly ones came right to our car and even on top of it. Admission was $25/person, but includes the drive around the park, a little cruise on the “African Queen Boat,” journey on a scenic railway, pet shows (including elephant swim and animals of prey shows) and access to the water play area. Kids two and under are free, we tried claiming that one of our kids was "two" and the other was "under," but the lady at the counter did not think it was funny. Wild animals on the route included lions, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, elk, bison, emus, monkeys, rhinoceroses, and more! At first, we had trouble attracting the monkeys to our car as it seems they prefer the darker, open trucked-vehicles to our fully-enclosed, white SUV, but the kids simply flashed a banana and they ran right over. Our trip also included another stop to Niagara Falls, a favorite of ours and worth it, as it is simply beautiful this time of year.
