First-Ever IndiaFest
Our local Indian Association held its first-ever India Fest in commemoration of India Independence, the Association’s 25th Anniversary, and to bring awareness about India to the Charleston community. The event, held in Charleston’s downtown Marion Square, featured Jiva Mukti Yoga, Indian dances, Sari-wrapping demonstrations, mendhi (henna-art tattoos), Silambam (Indian marital arts) demonstrations and more! The food consisted of masala dosas, vadas, somosas, Indian ice cream and more! I missed quite a few of the events as I was assisted in the mendhi station but the kids surely had fun playing with their friends. It was a nice gathering and a great way to show the community support.
